Not only a boutique resort in the heart of the Caribbean, but a sanctuary for the senses.
When a neglected plot of Curaçao beach steals the heart of an irrepressible entrepreneur, five family villas are bound to be more than just that. After all, it would be a waste to let the beautiful white sand and waving palms unappreciated for most of the year. Ad van der Valk and his partner Bibi dreamed up a luxury resort – building their lagoon single-handedly. Rock after rock after rock.
Bibi Island in the center of the bay is a homage to his eponymous girlfriend. The name Baoase eternalized their love. The oasis of Ad and Bibi or – in their native language – Bibi’s en Ad’s oase. Baoase. As a sign of unbreakable love, Bibi Island breaks the waves approaching the shore. Along with first five villas and the Master Villa, it is the start of Baoase.

When a neglected plot of Curaçao beach steals the heart of an irrepressible entrepreneur, five family villas are bound to be more than just that. Ad van der Valk and his partner Bibi dreamed up a luxury resort – building their lagoon single-handedly. Rock after rock after rock. The first stone is placed by Bibi in 2005.
In December 2009 the doors of Baoase Luxury Resort open for the first time. The resort consists of the 5 Oceanfront Villas and the Master Villa. Also the bar is finished and ready to welcome guests.

Before the gates close, it’s gone. That one missed call, the endless fuzz of ‘Are you getting groceries?’. Sure, the Caribbean breeze does the trick quite well blowing some sorrows away. But, even though it might be just for a day, it’s Baoase Luxury Resort that makes troubles vanish. A seemingly ordinary neighborhood conceals the high-end resort of the Caribbean. A turquoise lagoon where luxury goes barefooted.
In line with the love of Balinese style, something unique and highly luxurious was created. Different elements were incorporated in the design of the resort such as dark woods, vases, antiques, and other elegant details throughout the resort to set off the natural beauty of the surroundings. Baoase is managed by a family who cares about all guests:

The resort’s philosophy of barefoot elegance brings ultimate luxury without limits; you can experience high-end personal service but still be comfortable in a relaxing environment. Baoase Culinary Beach Restaurant is a fine-dining concept, but still with a slippers-and-sundress-attitude. The cuisine, with our dedicated Culinary Team, masters fine cooking techniques and serves French-international dishes with a whiff of Asian flavors. Nevertheless, day after day, from breakfast till after dark snack, the Executive Chef ingeniously combines ingredients to make them shine through simplicity.

Your Host
Since July 2020, Baoase Luxury Resort is managed by Thijs van der Valk. Thijs has a young, innovative mindset and has a passion for hospitality. He is here to make guests feel welcome and cared for and will go above and beyond to exceed their expectations. Together with an extraordinary team of people he will make sure guests get the memorable & personalized stay in paradise they had dreamed it would be—attentive to the smallest details and fulfilling every wish.
Throughout the years, Thijs has been working for numerous family-owned hospitality companies. In addition to his professional experience, he completed the studies of International Hotel & Hospitality Management at the EuroCollege Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Off duty, Thijs’ keen interests are sharing his passion for traveling and sports. He loves to travel to Europe, play golf in Curaçao overlooking the ocean and flamingo’s, or wake up early to go out on the boat fishing.
